Lionhead Studios appoints Executive Producer
GUILDFORD, Surrey. — April 1, 2014 — Lionhead Studios today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Frank Wonderpug as Executive Producer effective immediately. Wonderpug has previously worked with the company on a consultancy basis, giving valued insights into pet psychology and assisting with motion capture for Lionhead Studios’ Fable 2. “This is a very exciting time for Lionhead Studios and the Fable franchise as a whole,” said Executive Producer, Geoff Smith. “Frank is joining at a key stage in our development. Previously we have used human producers to scope out our canine feature set and motion capture in Fable games. However, while we have a high level of game design expertise, we have always lacked a key understanding of canine behavior. We are hoping that Frank will give us insights into what is really going on inside the head of man’s best friend.” Lionhead Studios has always strived to be at the forefront of game development and this appointment is the first time in the industry that a dog has been given a full time salaried position. “Lionhead is a company that has truly revolutionized the world with its approach to how animals are portrayed in games. We were the first to move away from the idea of ‘dog as resource’ or ‘dog as weapon’ and actually focus on making the dog a companion in their own right. It’s really been a ground breaking approach and one that netted us a PETA award in 2008 for Most Animal Friendly videogame.” Says Smith. “Having worked with Frank on other projects, I know that he is is the right dog at the right time for Lionhead.” This morning Wonderpug took to his Twitter channel @FrankWonderpug to announce the news saying: “The future is now and it’s canine” A spokesperson for Wonderpug had the following to say regarding the appointment “Frank is very excited to be working with the talented folks at Lionhead. A new dawn of realistic and meaningful portrayals of dogs in games starts today and Frank is honored to be part of it.” Wonderpug at the BAFTA Awards in 2013 Founded in 1996, Lionhead Studios has bold aspiration to make ground-breaking, genre-defining games. As part of Microsoft Studios since 2006, Lionhead stands more ready and dedicated than ever to fulfil its mission. Having built an impressive portfolio of games over the years, we're now working to bring the latest chapter of the Fable story to Xbox One, with Fable Legends.
