Fable Anniversary Character Spotlight: Whisper
While rivalry can lead to defeat, so too can it lead to the betterment of those competing. This is proven by the strong friendship between the Hero of Oakvale and his childhood friend Whisper. Hailing from the far away South Islands, Whisper and her older brother Thunder were shipwrecked off the coast of Albion and, having made it safely to shore, the pair were found and soon initiated into the Heroes Guild. Having been in training at the guild for some time when the Hero of Oakvale arrived in Maze’s care, a friendship between the two young Heroes in training soon formed. Desperately competitive, Whisper wanted to become a powerful Hero, perhaps one day even breaking free of her brother’s considerable reputation and forging a well-earned identity for herself. Though brother and sister, Thunder and Whisper’s differences extended beyond their appearances. While the hulking behemoth that is Thunder favours a mighty sword to channel his enormous strength, Whisper’s nimble and slight form is complimented by a simple wooden staff. As swift as a Sparrow, Whisper is living proof that sheer strength is not the be all and end all in a fight. It’s fair to say that the bond of friendship and sense of rivalry between the pair of young heroes was at least partly responsible for forging the Hero of Oakvale into the legend that he is today.
